Reusable Travel Essentials

If you’re someone who wants to change things up by being a little less wasteful while traveling, Dont you worry! Here at Lafortune General Store, we’ve complied a list of natural reusable items that you may already have or want to snag to help you achieve your goal of being kinder to the planet.

Tote Bag

We’ve all been there. You finally found a nice big tote to fit all your goodies in but when it comes time to finding your phone, keys, or wallet, Oh boy! What a hassle it can be. Tote bags are versitle in their functionality, as they can hold your groceries, school/office supplies, and even clothing items. So they make for a great companion when running errands or heading into work/school.

HACK: When it comes to tote bags with no pockets, we like take a small bag (different color to the bag) to place our necessities in so it‘s easier to spot and wont get lost in the mess.

Produce Bag

This is a great way to reduce single-use plastic when you’re on your grocery run. There are a variety of reusbale bags you can use to pack your produce in. Compared to plastic ones, most reusable produce are made with organic, natural materials that won’t harm your produce.

What you will love most about them is that it can also help with portion controlling your food. Only buying what you need, so that your fruits and veggies are all used up until your next purchase.

Lunch Bag

Having a designated bag for your lunch is such a game changer. There are a variety of items you can use to store your lunch for that day, like a traditional lunch bag, small mesh bag or try using the furoshiki method.

Watch this video here on how to use the wrap.

Silicone Bags

Talk about a bag for just about anything! They may vary in small sizes but silicone bags have endless uses to them. You can store snacks, crafting supplies, hair accessories, vitamins, and even skincare products. These bags are dishwasher and microwave safe, but did you know you can also use them in the oven 🤯 . Durable and made to last through many cycles of use.

Water Bottle & Travel Bag

As much as we ask that you recycle your plastic water bottles that you may buy at the store, we also encourage you to always have on hand a reusable mug or water bottle. Unfortunately in the U.S. , We don’t have the proper infrastucture to recycle plastic that gets picked up curb side . So be mindful next time your heading out and bring that dang bottle.

Reusable To-Go Containers

These come in handy when you’re out to eat and want to wrap up food or the next time you go over someones house to have lunch/dinner. Bringing your own container is a great swap for the aluminum/plastic containers you get from gatherings or restaurants.

ALSO, The next time you order take out, try to save the container to help you store leftovers, meal prepped items and/or take with you when you’re heading out.

Cutlery/Utensil Kits

Not an everyday essential but definitely comes in handy when you’re out or when you order takeout and the establishment forgets to pack a utensil kit to your bag.
